Toppings on a burger – unde or on top of the patty?
Started making burgers at home a few weeks ago and I still haven’t figured out what’s the best decision regarding some toppings. I really want to hear how do you guys like them and why

It’s in the name isn’t it? TOPpings
HenryIsKing
Lettuce under everything else on top. The lettuce keeps the bun from getting soggy and falling apart.

I do some on top and bottom. Pattie in the middle for the most part
No_Sand_9290
I do the bottom. Your flavor receptors on your tongue pick up the toppings flavors.
Mountain_Student_769
Lettuce onion on the heel, pickles on the crown. Spread on both.
FlopShanoobie
Mayo on the bottom bun. It’s oil based and keeps the wet ingredients from making the bun soggy and gross. Wet ingredients on top.

I saw 2 pix and thought toppings on top, and the other on the bottom… but they’re 2 pix of the same thing 🤔😒
discussatron
They’re not bottomings
theWyzzerd
I find that condiments are more likely to squeeze out when in contact with smooth melted cheese than they are when in contact directly with the burger, so condiments on the bottom and bacon on top when I include it. I don’t put veg on my burgers, so can’t speak to that.

I like to put raw onion on the bottom under the patty. I think the onion soaks in the burger flavor and protects the bottom bun. Then lettuce and pickle on top of the patty. I don’t like tomatoes on burgers, so I leave them off.

When I pick up my burger I end up flipping it upside down when I take a bite. So I place topping on the bottom witch end up being the top when I take a bite
BigCountry6996
Lettuce on the bottom so the bun isn’t soggy. Everything else on top.
SafeAccountMrP
Wet toppings like pickle or tomato on top and dry ones like onion underneath.
Membership_Fine
Yes. Doesn’t matter to me just get in my mouth. Phrasing lol.
Emcee_nobody
Veggies on top, but sometimes you can get away with onion and/or pickle on bottom
Electronic-Stand-148
Depends on how many toppings. Because some do need to be bottomings.

On top

The Fun Stuff ALWAYS goes on Top. Also, Tomatoes are for Salads & Sauce #FunStuffOnTop & #PicklesAreForever 💫💫💫
BananaHomunculus
Generally atop. But one thing that’s nice underneath is onion.
pappapoeskak
It goes bu weight. Heavy stuff at bottom. Patty thus on bottom. Toppings on top in order by weight

If it comes the opposite way you like , just flip it over.

Cheese down is my jam
BuffsBourbon
It’s right there in the name.
Meee_2
everything has a place exept tomatos, they can go wherever, but it doesn’t matter cuz i don’t put them on my burger.
also, i don’t think condiments count as a topping, but i saw someone else saying that mayo only goes on one side and that is simply wrong, it goes on both sides, and if you can’t do both preferably the top
shifty_ocelot
Just flip it upside down
Tuckerlipsen
Depends on how you want the flavors to hit… could do research and pattern the food so it his different taste buds
JoeBugg
I like to put the tomatoes, onion, and pickles on the burger and melt the cheese over the veggies so it’s all warm 🤤
fauxsoul
Temperature sensitive toppings on cheese side, stuff like onions and pickles on the meat side.
Critflickr
Bottomings don’t slide around as much. I put onions, mushrooms and jalapeños in between melted cheese and patty and pickles on top of cheese. Tomatoes and lettuce or spinach underneath the patty.
Hangninthereguy
top. All day. Stuff on the bottom drives me nuts.
Hot-Slide9631
Just turn the burger upside down if you want the topping to be under the patty!
Criticism-Lazy
Jfc what is wrong with us.
Leader_Bud
Going under the patty keeps the bottom of the bun intact
Zalaquin
Bacon in between rest doesn’t matter

IN my belly
Bottom to top.
Bun, ketchup, grilled onion, pickle, cheese, burger, cheese, mustard, bun.
Onions under, everything else on top.
Easy, top of the patty.
What kind of sociopath puts things under the patty?
I’ll take two of those please… yes they’re both for me….
On top. Cheese goes on the bottom and acts as a glue between the bottom bun and the patty.
The toppings have to go on top of the patty because the patty offers a good foundation, right?
Lettuce and tomato under the patty, everything else on top.
Depends which hemisphere you belong to
God dam you guys are so nerdy about burgers. And I love it! Never stop being you.
Both. But do you also season the tomato?
